Indeed, it's been a warm winter with almost no snow. Lakes have been freezing and thawing several times.
The lake in this picture does not usually totally freeze over no matter how cold it is, because it's moving water in this area.
Most, especially smaller lakes are frozen, but it was just the other day when a big portion of Päijänne -lake froze.
Now we've had snow for about a week and today it has been about -20 C... The cold is now welcome and seems exotic! We have missed the white snow that lightens our dark winters. :-)
